Regarding ELA technology standards I feel most comfortable with knowing what standards the grade level needs to learn throughout the year. The use of the SmartBoard and with the use of other technology, I will be able to use the resources within CPALMS to engage the students. Since I know how to use technology it will benefit me positively (along with other teachers with the same tech skills). The challenging part for me right know would be incorporating all the factors to work symbiotically within the classroom. I still have to learn how to lead a classroom, but overall I am confident that acquiring the experience I will be okay.

Once I opened CPALMS, I immediately loved the design and color scheme of the website. It made it easier for me to see where I wanted to go. I really want to teach Kindergarten, so I opened the toolkit corresponding to the grade level. I personally liked all the lesson plans for math, English language arts, and science. All the different subjects they offer include extensive lesson plans that I imagine really helps the classroom throughout the school year. For English language arts I would use the resource, "The Magical Library", because it outlines to the class what they are going to be reading in an animated way. The children will be able to listen to the book, sort of like an audiobook. The children will learn the difference between fiction and non-fiction, the job of the author and the illustrator. Moving on to math, I searched the resources offered and I loved, "Curious George Blast Off", because the children will learn to count along with Curious George and match the colors with the correct number. I believe it will encourage them to learn efficiently. The design of the game also helps with how positively the children will engage with it. "Gravity: Ouch! My head!", is the resource I found for science. This tutorial based resource resembles the one I mentioned related to English language arts. It will teach the children why gravity exists and why it occurs. Overall, I am impressed at how accessible these resources are and I am sure I will use it in the future. It will make lesson planning easier and the learning process enjoyable.

I loved the opportunity to explore my artistic side and this assignment also provided me with design skills as a potential teacher. I now know how to create personalized themes for a newsletter. The borders, banners, and how to create articles within the newsletter helped me create my newsletter (attached below). I also learned about how to use Microsoft Word to my advantage. Learning about the margins, adding text boxes, and inserting pictures has made Microsoft Word a whole lot easier. I loved everything about this assignment because it challenged me to have the mindset of a teacher and to push myself to create brief newsletters. However, I do realize my Newsletter is three pages long. For future reference I will keep it short and sweet. All these skills will help me create 'Newsletters' in the future and it will be exciting designing different ones each year.
