Blog Journal 5

My first experience with Diigo taught me how to annotate a web page and create a conversation through a group on Diigo. It is resources, like Diigo, that ease the process in getting advice from your peers electronically. Downloading Diigo through Chrome was the easiest way to use it because it appeared on my toolbar. Using it I found that it was easy to highlight sections of a web page and creating it public for people to comment on it. However, once I got home and it appeared on the YouTube videos I watch on the daily, I found it annoying. When I would pause on the video the highlighting icon from Diigo would appear. I realize that Diigo is always activated, but I am not always researching. It's something to keep in mind.

I absolutely enjoy doing my blog entries. It allows me to reflect on what we have learned in class. I appreciate learning how to create a blog and copyrighting my work. I don't think I have anything negative to say about my blogging experience. I love writing creatively, so I think in a near future I am going to keep blogging. Also, choosing the style of the background was my favorite part in the beginning. And embedding twitter within my blog makes it look more official. Finally, commenting on two of my peers journal entry helps create a positive community.

After doing some research on an interesting Web 2.0 tool I might use in the classroom, I chose Animoto. I plan on teaching at the elementary level and I know it's nice creating an end of the year video. It shows the parents what we have done as a class and it also shows the kids how big they have grown. As a teacher technology is extremely important because it helps create exciting material. Animoto will help in creating memories and it's very simple. On their website you can easily subscribe and choose a plan so that you use their resources. After you subscribe you can upload the contents of your camera and off you go, you can add graphics and music. This will allows you, as the teacher, to personalize the video and make it fun.
